Welcome to Hammarskjold Upper Elementary School

Welcome to Hammarskjold Upper Elementary School

Dag Hammarskjold (1905-1961) was a Swedish Diplomat and former Secretary-General of the United Nations. He is remembered for his skill as an International Diplomat. His spirit of diplomacy and belief in “productive discourse” is alive and well here at Hammarskjold Upper Elementary School, affectionately known as “HUES.”

HUES is a Grade 5-6 school that serves approximately 1300 students. We have a tradition of excellence that has been nationally recognized via the Blue-Ribbon Schools program.

We believe instilling a life-long love of learning in our students while ensuring their social and emotional growth is our most important work. This is done by providing each student with world-class instruction in the core content areas of ILA, Math, Science and Social Studies, as well as STEM, World Language, Health, Physical Education, Practical Arts, Computers, Music, Theater, and Fine Arts. We also offer a diverse selection of clubs and activities which enrich our students' experience.

Open lines of communication and stakeholder input are vital to the success of our school. I encourage parents, guardians, and students to actively engage with our teachers and staff. Together, we can create a strong home/school connection that will help ensure the best possible educational outcomes for our students.

We are excited about the potential for growth and achievement that lies ahead. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions, suggestions, or ideas to share.

Sincerely,

The HUES Leadership Team
