Mrs. Taylor Heitzhaus
School Counselor (5th Grade: A-GAM & 6th Grade: A-GR):
Mrs. Heitzhaus started at Hammarskjold Middle School in May 2018. Prior to joining the East Brunswick Counseling Department, she worked as an ABA in-home therapist and an Instructional Assistant while attending New Jersey City University to earn her Master's degree in School Counseling. She currently holds a license as an Associate Counselor and is continuing her studies towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. Mrs. Heitzhaus strives to collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure students at HUES receive the necessary tools to be successful members of society. As a counselor, she promotes social and emotional learning while providing positive support through individual and group sessions. Mrs. Heitzhaus has established a safe, welcoming and encouraging setting for students to experience academic or personal counseling to cultivate self-esteem. She enjoys going to the beach, listening to country music and attending NY Jets football games.

Ms. Maryam Srouji
School Counselor (5th Grade: GAN-PAS & 6th Grade: GS-OS)
This is Ms. Srouji's second year at Hammarskjold Upper Elementary as a school counselor. After receiving her Bachelors in Psychology from Monmouth University, she worked for two years as a high school teacher, then graduated with her Masters in Counseling from Rutgers University. She has primarily worked with students in the middle/upper elementary grade levels, and she's very excited about helping the students at HUES reach their fullest academic and personal potential! Aside from counseling students, Ms. Srouji loves to find new ways to relax and de-stress, such as coloring, listening to music, walking, and reading a good book.

Mrs. Stephanie Schweighardt
School Counselor (5th Grade : PAT-Z & 6th Grade: OT-Z):
This is Stephanie Schweighardt's 23rd year as a school counselor in East Brunswick. Stephanie graduated from Rowan University with her Bachelors in Arts and a degree in Special Education. She began her career as a Special Education teacher and taught 4th and 6th grade for about 2 years. Stephanie has always known she wanted to go back to school, and advance her career in other areas of education. Continuing in education and becoming a school counselor was what she had her heart set on! Stephanie earned her masters at The College of New Jersey in school counseling. She is looking forward to supporting and guiding the students into a successful school year!
